Visitors are always welcome at Blue Mesa Alpacas Ranch.  Please call (505-473-9316) if you would like to come out, even if just to sit in a field for an hour and enjoy watching the alpacas play.  Click on the Driving Directions button for specific directions from your place to Blue Mesa Ranch.

Due to great demand and many inquiries about having an internet store, we have decided to launch an internet Farm Store at www.Bluemesaalpacastore.com.  It should be ready by the spring of 2010.  A link to that site will be available both here (for a few months) and permanently on our Farm Store page as well as our Welcome page.

January/February 2010:

The winter months offer a quiet respite, a chance to rest up before the spring and summer birthing seasons and many upcoming alpaca events then.  Not entirely a time of rest for us, however, as we're planning to show some of our alpacas at the 11th annual TxOLAN alpaca show in Fort Worth, TX in mid-February.

December 2009

Our last Open-Ranch event of the year was held December 19 - 20, the weekend just before Christmas.  Many thanks to all who took the time out from their busy holiday schedules to visit with our friendly herd of alpacas and their latest babies as well as to browse in our farm store.

October/November 2009:

We held an Open-Ranch Weekend November 27-29th in conjunction with the celebration of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.  The event featured free ranch tours, refreshments, and a special 20% off sale on all alpaca goods in our Farm Store.  We had a great turn out, and a fun time was had by all - our thanks to everyone who came by to visit.

Silver Quest, our stunning silver gray herd sire, had his first babies arrive.  The first one was a handsome black boy & the second one a striking gray boy with white markings (see Silver Quest's herd sire listing for pics).  Keep posted for updates on his next crias!

September 2009:

The New Mexico State Fair held in Albuquerque in September featured an Alpaca Show the weekend of Sept. 26-27.  This year the alpaca show coincided in dates with National Alpaca Farm Days, so there were especially numerous major celebrations, promotions, and open-ranch events! The weekend weather was fantastic & a good time was had by all who attended, alpacas & humans alike. The Performance Show Sat. afternoon was a particular hit, with kids of all ages showing off their alpaca handling skills.

Award News

We're very excited about the show results we received for two of our herd sires at the prestigious 2009 AOBA National/World Alpaca Conference held in Cleveland, Ohio in June, which featured competitors from around the world.  Our silver grey herd sire Misty Ridge's Silver Quest, shown at the left,  distinguished himself by earning Second Place in his class in the Spin-Off competition.

Our light fawn herd sire BRCR's Peruvian Ricochet, pictured at the right (of the same genetic line as Silver Quest, both being Caligula grandsons) won a Fifth Place in his class in the Spin-Off competition.
