Blue Mesa Alpacas is a family-run ranch, specializing in fine huacaya alpacas in white and fawn colors. Our 10-acre ranch is located just off of I-25, only a 15-minute drive from downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.

Our ranch is committed to a high-quality breeding program, with an emphasis on improvements in conformation and fleece quality in each successive generation. We have a fantastic selection of herdsires from the best families.  Our herdsire Crescent Moon’s Shockwave is a son of the elite Peruvian Legacy and a multi-award-winning huacaya in his own right.  BRCR’s Peruvian Ricochet is the son of PCA Accoyo Goliath, and grandson of the great  Pperuvian Caligula, another elite line. We also offer herdsires from the Royal Fawn line, notably Enchantment's Manuelito, a multi-blue ribbon winner whose sire is Dom Lucilio and grandsire is  PPPeruvian Royal Fawn 6014.  We also stand at stud Galleria's Julius Ceazar, a medium fawn grandson of  Royal Fawn.

We offer a wide array of services, including breeding, sales, agisting, mentoring, and brokering (see the Services page for details).  We also have a farm store that offers a range of alpaca products, a number of which are made from our own animals' fiber.

We welcome visitors, and are happy to show them our beautiful herd and chat about alpacas. You can also visit with our gorgeous herd of Rocky Mountain horses while here if you like--the Rockies are a wonderful breed of gaited, sweet-tempered, medium-sized horses, many in beautiful shades of chocolate browns with white or flaxen manes and tails (to read more about them & see photos, click onto www.BlueMesaRanch.net).

Exciting News

The New Mexico State Fair to be held in Albuquerque in September will feature an Open Alpaca Show the weekend of Sept. 20-21.  Be sure to put that on your calendar!

We attended the AFCNA Continental Fleece Show (a level IV) in Denver.  The show had over 430 fleeces shown and was, by all accounts, an extremely high quality fiber show!  We walked away with 1 -1st place, 2 - 2nd places, 1 - 3rd place and 2 - 4th place ribbons. We also purchased a lovely black baby Suri and her mom, to be arriving in late August or early September.
